(INTEMAC)<\/strong> has been awarded the contract to <strong>prepare the detailed restoration design for the Alfonso XIII Bridge<\/strong>, popularly known as <strong>the Iron Bridge<\/strong>, an iconic Seville landmark with almost a century of history.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Port Authority of Seville<\/strong> has entrusted INTEMAC with providing this technical consultancy service under a contract valued at <strong>\u20ac162,140<\/strong>, with an execution period of <strong>eight months<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Bridge with History and a Future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alfonso XIII Bridge, inaugurated in <strong>1926<\/strong> ahead of the <strong>1929 Ibero-American Exposition<\/strong>, was designed by engineer <strong>Jos\u00e9 Delgado Brackenbury<\/strong> under a patent from <strong>Scherzer Lift Bridge Co. (Chicago)<\/strong> and built by <strong>Maquinista Terrestre y Mar\u00edtima de Barcelona<\/strong>. It was Seville\u2019s first movable bridge and remains a unique structure in Spain, combining both road and rail traffic on the same deck.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following its relocation in 2003 to a site on <strong>Avenida de la Raza<\/strong>, the bridge has remained unused for more than two decades. Its restoration will now enable its integration into the <strong>Port Urban District<\/strong>, becoming part of the <strong>Bridge Theatre<\/strong>, an open-air cultural venue within the future <strong>Port Park<\/strong>, which will connect Guada\u00edra Park with the dock basin.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>An Emblematic Project for Seville<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The restoration of the Iron Bridge responds to a long-standing demand from groups such as <strong>Planuente<\/strong>, which have advocated for the preservation and enhancement of this remarkable engineering landmark due to its uniqueness and heritage value.
